Yorkshire Terrier

The Yorkshire Terrier, often referred to as the Yorkie, is one of the smallest dog breeds, both within the terrier type and among all dog breeds. Developed in the 19th century in Yorkshire, England, the breed was originally used for hunting and ratting. Despite its small size, with an ideal maximum weight of 7 pounds, the Yorkshire Terrier has a bold and spirited personality.

Known for its distinctive long, silky coat and lively demeanor, the Yorkie makes an affectionate companion and can adapt well to apartment living. Regular grooming is necessary to maintain its elegant coat, and the breed is known for its loyalty and intelligence. Despite their small size, Yorkshire Terriers have a confident and courageous nature, often displaying a big-dog attitude in a tiny package.
