Border Terrier

The Border Terrier is a British breed of small, rough-coated terrier. It originates from the area of the Anglo-Scottish border and shares ancestry with the Dandie Dinmont Terrier and the Bedlington Terrier from the same area.

Border Terriers are known for their distinctive rough, wiry coat, which provides excellent protection against harsh weather and rough terrain. Their coat typically comes in various shades of red, grizzle and tan, blue and tan, or wheaten, and requires regular grooming to maintain its texture and prevent matting. Their expressive eyes and alert ears give them an endearing and lively appearance.

These dogs are highly energetic, intelligent, and tenacious, traits that make them excellent hunters and companions. Border Terriers were originally bred for hunting foxes and other small game, and they retain a strong prey drive and adventurous spirit. Despite their hunting instincts, they are known for their affectionate and friendly nature, getting along well with children and other pets when properly socialized. Regular physical exercise and mental stimulation are essential to keep them happy and healthy. With their loyal, spirited, and adaptable nature, Border Terriers make wonderful pets for families and individuals who can provide the attention and activity they need.
